Another ruin, this one much higher off the Canyon floor. The builders had something to fear. I doubt it was wildcats and mountain lions.

We left the Canyon, battered by the ride and baked by the sun. It was surreal to see the contrast of the ancient ruins and artwork with the lives of the people still living there. Regardless of the relationship between the Anasazi and Navajo in the past, the Navajo seem to honor and respect the remains of their "enemy ancestors" as they honor and respect their own traditions.
