The remains of the old San Geronimo, or St. Jerome, Chapel. It was destroyed during the 1847 siege during the Mexican American War. We were told the ruin serves as a memorial to the women and children who took shelter there, only to have it shelled by American troops. (Not surpisingly, the American histories take a differnt view of the event.)
